Down East
In Canada, "Down East" typically refers to the Maritime Provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Newfoundland and the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec are often included as they are here on On The Road, Across the Sea.

We woke to the cry of loons on our first morning at Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, with morning mist hanging across the hills on the far side of Bonne Bay.

During our month of camping across Newfoundland, we enjoyed many fine days but one in particular stands out. It was our unscheduled visit to La Scie, a fishing community of 800 souls at the tip of Baie Verte Peninsula that juts into the North Atlantic.
